Welcome!

I hope that you’re able to learn more about my professional experiences through this extended resume portfolio.

This video, while from a 2012 case competition, still describes my personality to this day.

Brigham Young University

I graduated with a B.A. in April 2014 with a Major in Business Management with a Marketing emphasis and a Minor in International Development.

I had the opportunity participate extensively in extra-curricular case competitions, join the leadership of the Marketing Association, and work as both a Teaching and Research Assistant in the Consumer Behavior lab under Darron Billeter.

Big Brothers

Big Sisters

Aug 2022 - Present

Years ago, I came across the Big Brothers Big Sisters program, and I immediately knew it was something I wanted to do. I was in a period of transition, then took on a full-time remote job and was bopping around working from coffeeshops and different states, so was in no position to volunteer (yet) with the program in the capacity I desired.

When I made the move to DC in early 2022, I knew it was time. Once I got my feet under me and the busy summer schedule calmed down, I was matched with my little, H, and since then have enjoyed every minute of meeting up, chatting, and building a relationship to be a life mentor for her.

MY EDUCATION

The George Washington University

In Fall 2025 I began my Masters of Arts in Global Communication with a focus on Public Diplomacy with an anticipated graduation of December 2027.

I have had the opportunity to volunteer for the Institute for Public Diplomacy and Global Communication, participate in Public Diplomacy Council of America events, and participate in a short-term study abroad visiting Paris, Brussels, and the Hague.

Through these experiences and my coursework, I have been able to apply principles and theory from the classroom into real-world scenarios and have expanded my network and knowledge.

MY PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCES

Associate Manager, Institute for Organization Management, U.S. Chamber of Commerce

Jan 2022 - Present

I began my journey with the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in January 2022 on the Institute of Organization Management team. In this role I manage Institute Faculty, Curriculum Committee, social media, fundraising and scholarships, and the Institute blog.

Some samples of the social media I manage are the Institute LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, and Blog. From 2022, I championed increasing the audience growth by 117% and engagement by 426%. I not only enjoy consuming, but also enjoy creating content.

I also manage the 138 Faculty members (industry professionals) who present at the four annual Institute sites, organize, promote, and moderate webinars, and coordinate across as Faculty to provide weekly content for the Institute blog.

I am able to continue scratching the itch to be a recruiter by interviewing potential faculty members. By Fall 2022, I had interviewed 26 individuals for the position of Faculty.

One aspect of my job I particularly enjoy is working as coordinator for both Fundraising and Scholarships. In 2022, $ 28,320 was raised between all four sites. These funds were used to fund the 80 scholarships awarded during 2022.

Barista, Starbucks

February 2022 - Dec 2022

September 2020 - May 2021

Because I was working remote and living alone during the pandemic, I found myself craving human interaction. So, I decided to try my hand at a skillset I’d always been interested in — being a barista.

Working at Starbucks part-time on the weekends and during some weeknights has been a fun way to make new friends, learn a new skill, and, of course, help my budget a little.

It’s been rewarding to work at two locations — my first in St. George, UT and now working at a location here in D.C.

I also recognize that I really respect Starbucks as a company in their efforts to improve when something isn’t handled correctly, provide educational opportunities for it’s partners, and provide other benefits like free Spotify Premium (I do love my music), Headspace (because, #pandemiclife), and 20 free therapy sessions a year with Lyra (this honestly may be my favorite).

What can I say? I love Starbucks.

Guest Services Manager, Provo Marriott Hotel & Conference Center

Jun 2019 - Sep 2020

Wanting to be near family in Utah before returning to China (the plan was to return Fall 2019), I took a summer to return to my hospitality roots and work in front office management while simultaneously taking Chinese classes as a Post-Baccalaureate student at BYU.

As the visa process got {normally} delayed, I was months away from a visa when covid hit and the world as we know it shut down. I stayed on at the hotel through covid and weathered the shortened hours, dropping occupancy, and watching the hospitality industry nearly collapse while covid reigned rampant.

This property was my home base during a really trying time in the world, and I am forever grateful for the leaders and colleagues I had during that time. We’ll all remember where we were when covid locked us down, and that is no exception for me with the Provo Marriott Hotel & Conference Center.

At the end of my time there, the position that I was originally going to be taking in China became available stateside, so I moved roles to an International Teacher Recruiter with English First.

Volunteering

International Teacher Recruiter, English First

Sep 2020 - Nov 2021

After returning from China back home to the U.S., I only planned to be home for a summer. That summer turned into 6 months, which turned into almost a year. I was in the visa process when covid hit, and before I knew it, my world was turned upside-down as returning to China became a pipe dream.

I was fortunate to take a job with the company I’d gone to teach with — English First— and be the recruiter for teachers interested in going. The goal at that time was to prep the teachers as we waited for borders to open.
I loved my job—I got to talk to people all day about the thing I loved most—living in China.

While on the team, I gravitated towards working on social-media-related projects (hosted webinars with candidates, held Instagram & YouTube live, and managed the company TikTok account. I contributed with original blog posts on “China: A Cashless Society,” “Seven Ways Teaching Abroad Can Enhance Your Career,” and “My Experience on Budget Travel in China.”

With Chinese laws changing, private tutoring centers (such as EF) slimmed down operations, and I was unfortunately laid off. That gave me the chance to really re-evaluate my professional goals and I came to the conclusion to put China on the back-burner until the post-Covid world returned to whatever the new ‘normal’ would be.

Odd Jobs

Overnight Warehouse, Amazon

Apr - May 2020

To off-set finances, I ended up taking advantage of the pay incentives Amazon was offering, and I picked up weekend overnight shifts in the warehouse. THAT was a ride. It was a lot of overnights, sleeping, working afternoon hotel shifts, and burning the candle at both ends to stay afloat.
